National Cost-Sharing Program for Heritage Places in Canada

Deadline: 28-Aug-20

The British Council has launched a call for applications for the Heritage Grants to Engage Young People in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. They expect to make between five and 10 grants in total to support projects delivered between October 2020 and March 2021.

Principles

They have listed principles around engaging young people with heritage below. This list was written by young people aged 18 – 25.

  1. Young people should be actively involved in decision making processes;
  2. Young people want their views to not just be heard, but actively listened to;
  3. Festivals, celebrations and cultural activities can inspire more young people to get involved in heritage;
  4. Young people will be interested in different elements of culture and heritage;
  5. Young people led curation is important – how can you support young people to design, manage and deliver activities and exhibitions?
  6. Make it fun and interactive. Interactive activities such as competitions, games and new technology are important for engaging young people;
  7. Age of participants. Different age groups have distinctly different understandings of and interest in heritage. We need to design activity tailored different groups of young people.
