The Institute for Development Research (IRD) is seeking projects for its “South Expert Sustainable Plants Development Durable Programme (SEP2D)” with an aim to reinforce the scientific research on plant biodiversity, through the strengthening of a partnership culture with the economic operators, the civil society and the political authorities.
Thematic Areas
- The sustainable management of the forests’ plant biodiversity
- The mitigation of mining activities
- The valorisation of plant biodiversity (Pharmacopeia, Cosmetics and other non-edible use)
- The agro-biodiversity
Grant Information
The total amount of the grant requested to the SEP2D programme doesn’t exceed 40.000 euros for National projects or 80.000 euros for Regional or International projects.
Eligibility Criteria
In order to be eligible, these projects must:
- Rely on a partnership between an academic institution and an economic operator
- Take place in the geographical coverage of the SEP2D programme (mentioned below)

- West Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, Togo.
- Central Africa: Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo Brazzaville, Congo Kinshasa, Gabon, Rwanda.
- Indian Ocean: Comoros, Madagascar.
- South East Asia: Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam.
