KCDF: Giving For Change Programme in Kenya

The Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF) is requesting proposals from Kenya (Nairobi, Kwale, Kisumu, and Kakamega) based organisations for it’s Giving For Change Programme.

Aims

The Giving for Change programme aims to unlock the collective power of local communities, represented by Civil Society Actors, to express their opinion through community philanthropy through:

Themes

Lot 1: The proposed projects MUST contribute to strengthening local lobby and advocacy (mobilising support) initiatives, awareness creation, and actual policy influencing initiatives. Additionally, the projects should promote networking and collaboration building with Communities of Practice (CoP) and implement community-driven public awareness campaigns on Advocacy & Philanthropic Giving.

Thematic Focus for Lot 1: KCDFs intention is not to prescribe any thematic focus. Proposed projects should focus on addressing community needs through advocacy and policy influencing (and not typical service delivery activities) while ensuring greater community voice and agency. Some illustrative initiatives include:

Lot 2: The local fundraising component seeks to promote local philanthropy for self-reliance and long-term sustainability among Kenyan communities. At the same time, it aims to strengthens communities’ capacity and confidence in taking charge of their development agenda.

The proposed ideas allow local partners to propose their own local development projects and fundraise for fifty percent (50%) of their local project budget. The focus will be directed at local community projects demonstrating financial and resource participation by the local community and the potential for long-term impact on the target groups – sustainable development.

Thematic Focus for Lot 2: KCDFs intention is not to prescribe any thematic focus. Proposed projects should focus on addressing community needs to be prioritized. The project ideas should be realistic to mobilise local support/funding towards meeting fifty percent (50%) contribution i.e. from community members, local businessmen, professionals, and corporate sector players. Eligibility Criteria

This call for proposal eligibility criteria applies for lot 1 and lot 2. Only County Based organisations/ Civil Society Actors based in the four counties of Nairobi, Kwale, Kisumu and Kakamega are eligible. In addition, an applicant should meet any of the three qualifications below:
