Leeds Community Foundation’s Give Bradford campaign is delighted to be launching Round 2 of the Bradford Youth Fund with funding from Bradford Metropolitan District Council and The BG Campbell Trust. This youth scheme will continue to support a wide range of voluntary, community and faith youth work projects in Bradford with a focus on services which support young people who are in greatest need.
Grants are available for the provision of regular sessions of youth work over a duration of 12 months that address at least one of the following areas of the District’s Youth Offer:
- Open access youth work;
- Targeted youth work;
- Information, advice and guidance for young people;
- Youth voice;
- Active citizenship.
Funding Information
- The minimum request is £1,000 The maximum is £5,000.
The Fund Supports
Applications must support participation by young people aged 13-19 (or young people with a disability aged up to 25) from at least one of the following groups:
- Young parents;
- Young people affected by drugs problems;
- LGBT young people;
- Young people who are from new migrant communities;
- Young people who are homeless, reported missing or have run away;
- Young people who are living in poverty.
Priority for this fund will be given to applicants who are delivering activities in areas of high deprivation or disadvantage within the Bradford district.
What can the Fund not support?
Grants will not be awarded to or for:
- For-profit organisations, statutory organisations (e.g. schools and hospitals) or overseas organisations.
- Retrospective funding (activity and costs that have already taken place).
- Grant-making to other organisations and/or individuals.
- Activity targeted at a particular group (ethnic, gender, religious etc.) without a good justification for this.
- Activity that promotes a particular political or religious point of view.
- Activity primarily for the benefit of animals.
- Individuals.
- Expeditions or overseas travel.
- Capital appeals for building projects.
Type of Activities
Projects should meet one of the following themes:
- Activities that allow young people to come together to develop new skills around leadership, team working or social action.
- Projects that are enjoyable but also challenging and progressive, where young people are able to learn new skills, explore their strengths and gain confidence.
- Benefit the local area, projects can tackle a community issue, raise awareness, address a cause and promote community cohesion.
- Broadening young people perspectives, thinking and horizons.
- Activities that actively encourage young people to lead, create, influence, empower and provide opportunities for young people to express their voice to make a positive difference.
- Activities which enable young people to improve and increase their social, personal and formal relationships and communication.
- Support for young people to increase educational attainment, raise their aspirations, and support critical thinking and learning.
- Build desire amongst young people to participate in volunteering alongside others as an integral part of a wider community, as active citizens.
Eligibility Criteria
Community groups, charities, social enterprises or other charitable organisations from the third sector that:
- Have a constitution or other relevant governance document.
- Have a management committee/board of directors/trustees of at least three unrelated people.
- Have a bank account under the name of the group with at least two unrelated signatories (if your organisation doesn’t have its own bank account, but does meet all of the other criteria, please contact them to discuss how they can work around this).
- Are based in and supporting young people living in the Bradford Metropolitan District Area.
