The National Centre for Action on Child Sexual Abuse Limited (National Centre) is calling for applications for its 2022 Grants Round.
The National Centre for Action on Child Sexual Abuse (the National Centre) has a vision of a community in which children are safe, and victims and survivors of child sexual abuse across the lifespan are supported to heal and recover. To support this vision, they are looking to fund a range of short-medium and longer-term projects on the research to quality improvement continuum which align with the critical challenges that we believe must be addressed to achieve change.
Streams
The National Centre will fund research projects that align with the challenges and organisational goals, and address the specific research aims.The grants round comprises projects in two streams (both of which can include evaluations):
- Research
- Quality improvement
Funding Information
- Research: $250,000 (GST exclusive)
- Quality improvement: $35,000 (GST exclusive)
- Duration: A range of short-, medium- and longer-term projects will be funded, with a maximum project duration of three years
Eligibility Criteria
- Any Australian organisation with the capacity to undertake research, including services, can apply
- Any organisation or individual that has a current Australian Business Number and/or Australian Company Number and is eligible to conduct business in Australia with the capacity to undertake research is eligible to apply (applicants are not limited to academic and established research organisations). For avoidance of doubt, departments of the government of a State or Territory are not eligible, however, government agencies (being a permanent or semi-permanent organisation that is responsible for the oversight and administration of a specific government function) are eligible to apply (e.g. while a Local Health District is eligible to apply, the NSW Department of Health is not).
- Applicants may only apply for one project (per grant round) as a Principal Chief Investigator (the project lead) but may apply for multiple projects as a Chief Investigator (other members of the project team).
- National Centre staff, board members, and their immediate families are ineligible to apply.
- Members of the National Centre’s Colleges and Advisory committees (e.g. members of the National Centre’s Expert Research Advisory committee) are eligible to apply, but must declare any conflicts of interest.
- Applicants must declare any conflicts of interest that exist or may arise in relation to any aspect of the proposed project.
Assessment Criteria

Grants will be awarded based on merit. Applications are peer assessed by independent multi-disciplinary peer assessment panel(s) against specific selection criteria, each of which must be demonstrated in the Application. These are:
- Alignment with the National Centre’s research priorities
- Adherence to the National Centre’s five key research principles:
- Participatory and collaborative
- Development, trauma and healing informed
- Inclusive and culturally safe
- Rigorous, ethical and transparent
- Relevant and translational
- Feasibility
- Value for money
