The Nike Community Impact Fund 2023 is offering financial support for sports clubs or associations in Antwerp, Limburg or Flemish Brabant committed to vulnerable young people.
They know from experience that play and sport, in short exercise, make young people less vulnerable. It makes them socially skilled, they feel they belong and contributes to their personal development and self-confidence. But they often hit barriers. Thresholds due to deprivation, cultural differences, language and learning delays, behavioral or psychological problems, physical or mental disabilities. And it is not easy for you to reach those young people, to motivate them, to continue to fascinate them.
If you have a project that reaches out to vulnerable young people and removes barriers to encourage them to exercise, please let the Nike Community Impact Fund and the King Baudouin Foundation know. Every full-fledged and sustainable proposal deserves our attention and possible support. Work together, find partners, other associations, schools and possibly companies and submit your project.
Funding Information
- Selected projects can receive financial support between €3,000 and €6,000. A total budget of 140,000 € is available. It is an asset if there is no other support from other bodies (co-funding).

Eligibility Criteria
- Associations and clubs (non-profit organization, NGO) from the provinces of Antwerp, Limburg and Flemish Brabant can submit a project. Projects that want to encourage vulnerable children and young people (up to the age of 21) to exercise/play/sport. Commercial projects are not accepted within this call.
- Cooperation with other (sports) associations and initiatives from different sectors is strongly encouraged. Partnerships with schools and local authorities are also welcome, provided that the non-profit organization submits the application. Schools or local authorities cannot submit a project themselves.
Selection Criteria
- Objective of the project. It is about a concrete local initiative of a club or association (non-profit organization, NGO) in the province of Antwerp, Limburg or Flemish Brabant. The initiative aims to encourage children and young people to do sports, play or exercise.
- Accessibility. The project explains how it wants to make its own infrastructure and activities accessible to the target groups. This can relate to all kinds of aspects such as geographical accessibility, registration and material costs, registration procedures, opening hours, didactic methods, language.
- Durability. Sustainability is a key concept in the project. The project is not a one-off activity, but aims to have a lasting effect or effect. The active involvement of the target group (and not only as a participant) can play an important role in this.
- Partnership. The project can be realized in a partnership with (an)other partner(s) from different sectors, where the role of each partner is clear.
- Added value of the financial support. The project clearly explains the added value of the support and what the support will be used for in the realization of the project.
- Results. The project clearly states what results it wants to achieve and how the results can be measured – quantitatively and qualitatively. i.e. what is the change that people want to see after executing the project.
- Timing. The realization of the project must start in September 2023 at the latest and aims for an operation of at least 12 months. Since they like to support sustainable projects, the project can run over several years.
- Example value. It is an extra asset if the project has an exemplary value and can inspire others.
