The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, is pleased to announce an open competition for eligible organizations to submit applications to carry out a project to highlight, raise public awareness, and preserve Afghanistan’s diverse cultural heritage.

The goal of this effort is to promote the civic virtues of tolerance and equality for all, appreciation of diversity, and national pride by building community and national awareness of Afghanistan’s rich heritage. This project will provide civic education on the responsibility of citizens, government officials, and democratic institutions to preserve Afghanistan’s diverse identity, cultural expression, and heritage, resulting in an informed citizenry with the civic skills necessary to create the collective action required to afford enduring protection. Selection of projects will seek to preserve an endangered or threatened aspect of traditional forms of cultural expression or elements of tangible heritage such as monuments, sites, built structures, artifacts, and museum collections.
