The Novo Nordisk Foundation is seeking applications for its Children, Health and Exercise to promote healthy physical and mental development among children and young people aged 3-16 by limiting sedentary behavior and maintaining and promoting movement and physical activity in the age group.
The foundation therefore wants to support projects that seek to increase the movement and physical activity of children and young people. At the same time, they encourage the integration of other health-promoting elements, such as sleep, food and well-being, into projects on movement and physical activity, so that holistic and interdisciplinary projects are created. The purpose of this call is to support public institutions
The purpose of the call is also to support projects where research and practice meet and together develop solutions based on the best available knowledge in a way that can realistically and long-term work in practice, and which generates and shares knowledge and evidence.
Project Field
- The Novo Nordisk Foundation will support implementation and development projects that promote movement among children and young people aged 3-16. Projects may be aimed at the general target group of 3-16-year-olds, but must in that case actively address social inequality and include considerations on how the project can promote equality in health. Projects can also be specifically targeted at groups of children and young people at particular risk of having a low level of activity, such as ethnic minority groups or children and young people in vulnerable positions. Projects can choose to work with the entire defined age group or with parts of it.
- Support can be applied for projects with a focus on reducing children’s and young people’s sedentary activities by increasing movement and physical activity.
- You can apply for support for the development of methods and initiatives, for materials, etc. and for resources to support municipal and local initiatives (in day care, schools, leisure clubs, associations, etc.) that focus on promoting an active among children and young people. Projects may also include a focus on sleep, eating habits and well-being, but this is not a requirement.
- Multicomponent efforts that, based on existing evidence, indicate a greater chance of success, will be preferred.
- Projects can work directly with children and / or with adults around the children, eg employees, volunteers and parents. The Novo Nordisk Foundation encourages applicants to work involvingly with relevant actors and target groups for the project.
Funding Information
- A total of DKK 60 million has been raised. for distribution in 2022.
- Grants of between DKK 3,000,000 and 10,000,000 can be applied for for initiatives with a duration of 2-5 years. Projects can start no earlier than 1 September 2022.
- Applications that fall outside the financial and time frame will not be processed.
- The project can be an independent, defined project or part of a larger project, which is also supported by other partners.
- The Novo Nordisk Foundation would like more applicants with interests in the field to apply together in such a way as to create a breeding ground for broad-based and sustainable solutions.
Eligibility Criteria
- During the period for which the grant is awarded, the applicant must be a leader or project
- manager at a public institution and/or charitable organisation, including educational institutions,
- knowledge institutions, associations, or municipalities in Denmark.
- Private companies may not apply for grants under this call for applications but may be
- collaborating partners in the project.
- The application must list any co-applicants or collaborating partners.
- Applicants who have applied for or been awarded other co-funding must state this in the budget.
