The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund is accepting applications for the project aimed at supporting Maluku provincial and district governments to optimize implementation of equitable quality maternal, new-born and child health services.
The local government’s capacity in new-born care and child death reduction is being improved, which includes improving access to quality new-born care, preventing, and reducing childhood illnesses.

Beneficiaries
- The direct beneficiaries of this partnership activity are:
- Health personels who provide services related to newborn care and preventing and reducing childhood illnesses in selected districts.
- Pregnant women, babies or children who are entitled to routine services.
- Working groups, and other stakeholders of maternal and child health at the provincial to district levels.
Expected Results
- Quality newborn care
- Maluku provincial and selected district health offices have capacity to facilitate health care facilities in provision of quality maternal and neonatal care and strengthening care provision for small and vulnerable new-born, including infants from mothers with HIV
- Maluku provincial and selected districts have improved capacity in maternal perinatal death surveillance and response (MPDSR) implementation.
- Prevent and reduce childhood illnesses
- Governments of Maluku province and districts have improved capacity to synchronize and analyse IMCI data and develop cross-program follow up action to reduce and prevent childhood illness, specifically for childhood pneumonia and diarrhoea.
Expected Outputs
- Key activities to achieve the output:
- Capacity building on Mother and Child Health Book, including for small children for health centre staff in selected districts.
- Conducting joint field visits and monitoring for cross-sectoral response implementation in Buru and SBB districts.
- Socialization and training on notification system through WA for pregnant and delivery woman for health workers.
- Conducting regular coordination and data synchronization meetings for provincial IMCI working group
