Pacific Islands Good Governance Initiative is now open for Applications

The U.S. Department of State Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs (EAP) is accepting applications from eligible organizations to submit applications for Pacific Islands Good Governance Initiative.

All NOFOs should focus on accomplishing the following objective: Create an initiative in the Pacific Islands that can promote sound, just, and responsive governance within the region to empower citizens, help combat corruption, and strengthen nations’ sovereignty. Transparent and accountable governments that promote civil society and rule of law are essential to strengthening the free and open Indo-Pacific region. Programs should address the most pressing governance needs of the Pacific Islands, including, but not limited to:

Projects are limited to the following EAP countries eligible to receive Economic Support Funds: Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. Projects may also include participation from Pacific Island Forum (PIF) countries, including: Cook Islands, Niue, French Polynesia, and New Caledonia. Projects for Nauru may not involve any assistance to the central government, including the provision of training or technical assistance to central government employees, in light of applicable assistance restrictions.
