Patagonia is inviting applicants for its Japan Grants Program to support small groups that work directly at grassroots and have groups working on multiple campaigns trying to protect / restore the natural environment.
Patagonia supports community-based groups trying to preserve the habitats of the remaining creatures in the community, and we are working on a community-based group that supports one community-based tree in the forest, tributaries in the forest, wildlife protection in danger of extinction.
Funding Information
The grant amount will be in the range from 500,000 yen to 2 million yen
Funding Criteria
Patagonia funds work that:
- Group conducting nonprofit activities
- A group that is always acting
- A group that involves the widely popular people and is endorsed
- Strategically active group to achieve the purpose
- A group that identifies the root cause of the problem and works on the cause
- A group with clear goals and action targets
- Among the countries in which Patagonia operates, the following groups based in Japan are based in the following countries: the United States, Canada, Japan, Chile, Argentina, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Norway, Luxembourg, Italy, Ireland, Germany, France, Denmark, Belgium, Austria, Australia, the Czech Republic
In addition to the above, it is necessary to satisfy the following conditions specified by the Tides Foundation.
- Project based application: Grant for regular administrative operation expenses is excluded.
- It is not a project aimed at implementing propaganda and lobbying activities intended to influence specific legislation
- Be a project to be conducted outside the United States
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant’s organization must be operated for the public good
- Applicant’s organization must have charitable status in the country in which their organization is located, or have a fiscal sponsor with such status. Please note that Patagonia does not require international organizations to have U.S. 501(c)(3) status or a fiscal sponsor with 501(c)(3) status.
- Applicant’s organization, or their fiscal sponsor, must have a bank account for business purposes in the name of their organization
