Paul Hamlyn Foundation’s Act for Change Fund for Young People Leading Social Action

Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program in Kosovo

Deadline: 1 April 2019

Paul Hamlyn Foundation is seeking applications for its grant program entitled ‘Act for Change Fund: young people leading social action’ which is a £3.6 million partnership for organisations supporting young people working for change.

The Fund provides resources for young people to challenge social injustice, find ways of overcoming inequality and give voice to issues they are experiencing.

A joint initiative between Paul Hamlyn Foundation (PHF) and Esmée Fairbairn Foundation (EFF) in partnership with the National Lottery Community Fund, both foundations are acting as match funders and are awarding grants on behalf of the #iwill Fund.

Act for Change Fund promotes the potential of young people with experience of disadvantage to devise and develop activities and programmes to shape the world around them. It aims to create a more diverse group of social, cultural and political leaders for the future.

Eligibility Criteria

Act for Change Fund will support work taking place in the UK only and cannot fund work outside of England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. They understand that social change can be pursued at a local, regional, national or global level but the activities they fund which contribute to this change must take place in the UK.

What size organisation can apply?

They can fund organisations with an annual income ranging from £25,000 to £5 million. Act for Change Fund aims to make a mix of small and larger grants with this funding ranging from £20,000 to £100,000, strengthening and expanding the field of organisations doing this work. They recognise that organisations in this space are diverse in size and kind. However, they are unlikely to fund large campaigning organisations that have no prior track record of youth-led action for change.
