The Embassy of France in Ethiopia and to the African Union is pleased to announce its call for proposals dedicated to fighting violence against women and girls. The call is financed by the French government through the PISCCA Fund and aims to support small scale projects initiated by Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations.
This initiative is part of the current priority of the French Government to foster equality between women and men, and fight against all forms of gender-based violence at the national and international levels, in particular through feminist CSOs.
This program is also in line with the Ethiopian Government’s intention to offer social services to protect children and adolescents, in particular by deploying efforts throughout the country to reduce female genital mutilation, child marriage, child trafficking, and physical and sexual violence against women and girls.
Themes
Eligible themes of this call for proposals dedicated to fighting violence against women and girls in Ethiopia:
- Early and/or forced marriage of the girl child
- Female genital mutilation
- Caring for women and girls victims of physical, sexual and psychological violence
- Rape, including as a tool for repression and conflict
- Rebuilding the lives of victims and survivors
Type of Projects
Eligible type of projects:
- Operational projects focusing on the victims
- Advocacy projects to prevent future victims and fight against traditional harmful practices
- Strengthening networks of gender actors at national/regional levels
Funding Information
- The requested grant ranges between 1 000 000 ETB and 2 400 000 ETB;
- The CSO provides a financial contribution of at least 10% of the grant;
- The project implementation period ranges between 12 and 18 months;
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the PISCCA Fund, application forms need to fulfill the ten following criteria:
- The project owner shall be an Ethiopian Civil Society Organization fully and legally registered at the Ethiopian Agency for Civil Society Organization (ACSO);
- The CSO shall be operational for at least 6 months prior to submitting the project;
- The project is aligned with the selected theme: fighting violence against women and girls;
- The project is implemented in Ethiopia;
- The project is approved by the Management team of the CSO;
- A request letter, signed by the CSO Director or President, is attached to the application form;
- The application form is presented according to the required format;
- The application and related annexes are submitted before the deadline.
