The Polden-Puckham Charitable Foundation (PPCF) is seeking applications for its Grant Program to contribute to the development of a just society based on a commitment to nonviolence and environmental sustainability.
The priority is to address systemic threats by seeking to change policy and attitudes at a national or European level. In order to do this, in the limited areas they support projects that seek to influence values and attitudes, promote equity and social justice, and develop radical alternatives to current economic and social structures.
Funding Information
- The Foundation usually gives grants of between £5,000 and £20,000 per year, for up to three years.
- They usually support organizations for whom this would represent between 4% and 50% of their annual income (organizations with an annual income of between £10,000 and £500,000 approximately).
The Foundation will Fund:
- Peace and Sustainable Security: The Foundation supports work that addresses the underlying causes of violent conflict and the development of ways to prevent and resolve conflict.
- Environmental Sustainability: The Foundation supports work that addresses the pressures and conditions that contribute to global environmental breakdown.
- Governance: PPCF’s grant-making is managed by a board of trustees who have a wealth of experience in grant-making and who give their time freely to undertake the work of the foundation:

- Simon Fisher
- Stephen Pittam
- They are supported by the Trust Secretary, Christine Oliver.
- The day to day running of the foundation is undertaken by the Trust Secretary who works part-time, although usually over five days.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Foundation is a UK based grant-giving charity. They support the work of UK registered charitable NGOs.
- The Foundation also supports organizations or projects that are not UK registered charities if they can indicate the UK registered charity that is able to receive funds on their behalf and are undertaking work that is international in focus.
Exclusions
The Foundation does not fund:
- organizations that are large
- organizations that are outside the UK (unless they are linked with the UK registered charity and doing work of international focus)
- work outside the UK (unless it is of international focus)
- grants to individuals
- travel bursaries (including overseas placements & expeditions)
- study
- academic research
- capital projects (e.g. building projects or purchase of nature reserves)
- community or local practical projects (except innovative projects for widespread application)
- youth work, youth training, and youth camps
- environmental/ ecological conservation
- international agencies and overseas appeals
- general appeals
- human rights work (except where it relates to peace and environmental sustainability).
- community mediation and crime-related work.
