The Caregiver and Family Leadership Grant – coordinated by Global Foundation for Girls and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is requesting proposals from U.S.-based family organizations, caregiver groups, and/or organizations that support parent and/or family leadership.
They are particularly interested in supporting organizations and/or caregiver groups that have a strong commitment to empowering caregivers, family leadership groups, and individuals who engage with families to enhance their capacity and knowledge in areas directly relevant to their work. Applicant proposed projects should directly serve BIPOC communities.
Grants will be awarded through the Global Foundation for Girls Family Fund. The Family Fund provides support to grassroots organizations and parenting groups, with a focus on supporting family stabilization, establishing familial support for girls/youth who have been in crisis, and parent groups and families who engage in community activism and organizing for issues relevant to their family and communities. This grant will focus on family leadership and families who engage in community activism and organizing for issues relevant to their family and communities.
Funding Information
- This round of funding provides up to twenty (20) $10,000-$50,000 grants that will be awarded to qualified organizations or groups. Organizations may be invited to apply or may apply during the open call.
- Those groups or organizations not awarded during this cycle will have the opportunity to engage with GFG for future open calls and to join their network to receive capacity-building and technical assistance support.
Duration
- Projects should be for a period of 6-months to begin on January 1, 2024 and be completed no later than July 1, 2024.
Target Applicants
- Successful applicants will have:
- Knowledge of the importance of incorporating diversity, equity, inclusion, intersectionality, power analysis, and anti-racist principles throughout the organization.
- Capacity to engage in community activism and organizing for issues relevant to birthing people, caregivers of children, and families in the community.
- Experience collaborating with community members who are most impacted by issues related to parenting and family justice and who have been traditionally marginalized in these spaces.
- Focus on increasing the capacity to advance parenting and family justice and develop innovative programs among grassroots BIPOC family/parenting groups.
- An asset-based framework rather than a deficit-based approach.
Eligibility Criteria
- Have a 501(c)(3) designation or have a fiscal sponsor with a 501(c)(3) status.
- Organization should be BIPOC-led and/or family support-focused.
- Have familiarity with grassroots organizing and focus on issues related to family and parenting justice.
- Have the capacity to implement the proposed project and manage the grant funds in accordance with award terms and conditions.
- Be based in the United States.
- Have a 2023 operating budget of $2 million dollars or less.
