The UN Women Bangladesh, with funding from EU, seeks a CSO to implement Outcome 3 of the project – Ending Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in Public Spaces, workplace and educational institution in the context of work and tertiary educational settings in Bangladesh.
The project strengthens women-led organizations and CSO coalitions for national policy advocacy, supports legal reforms on sexual harassment, and monitors law implementation.
Results
- The “Ending sexual and gender-based violence in public spaces, in the context of work and tertiary educational settings in Bangladesh (ESGBV)” will contribute to the following results:
- Impact: Women in Bangladesh are able to live a life free from sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in public spaces, workplaces and in tertiary educational institutions.
- Outcome 1: National gender-responsive laws, policies, and budgets are better formulated, adopted and implemented in institutions by government actors to prevent sexual and gender-based violence in public spaces, at workplaces and in tertiary educational institutions.
- Outcome 2: University Grants Commission, selected tertiary educational institutions, and public sector workplaces in Bangladesh have improved attitudes and behaviour to prevent sexual and gender-based violence in public spaces, at workplaces and in tertiary educational institutions
- Outcome 3: Civil society and women’s rights organisations, organisations of persons with disabilities, and youth networks play an enhanced role in ending sexual and gender-based violence specifically related to public spaces, workplaces and tertiary educational institutions.
- Impact: Women in Bangladesh are able to live a life free from sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in public spaces, workplaces and in tertiary educational institutions.
Description of required services/results
- The RP will coordinate with the national and local women’s rights/led organizations and CSO coalition for the implementation of the abovementioned strategic interventions and generate evidence throughout the project implementation.
- The RP is encouraged to propose additional activities as required for the overall implementation of the project and also identify measures for the sustainability of the interventions after the project implementation.
- Outcome 3: Civil society and women’s rights organisations, organisations of persons with disabilities, and youth networks play an enhanced role in ending sexual and gender-based violence specifically related to public spaces, workplaces and tertiary educational institutions.
- Output 3.1: Civil society organisations, especially WLOs, OPDs and youth networks have strengthened capacities to gain access to platforms that facilitate their engagement with government actors and advocate initiatives to address SGBV in public space, workplace and tertiary educational institutions.
- Outcome 3: Civil society and women’s rights organisations, organisations of persons with disabilities, and youth networks play an enhanced role in ending sexual and gender-based violence specifically related to public spaces, workplaces and tertiary educational institutions.
Funding Information
- The budget ranges from BDT 19,000,000 to 19,900,000.
Timeframe
- UN Women has started the implementation of the ESGBV project from 1 October 2024 which is a 48-month project. The RP who is responsible to implement outcome 3, will implement for 35 months starting from 1 July 2025 until 30 May 2028.
Eligibility Criteria
- Proposals can only be submitted by non-governmental organizations registered in Bangladesh.
- The organization can submit the proposal as an individual entity or as a consortium.
- The organization should have been in operation for at least 10 years, with 5 years relevant experience on legal aid and policy advocacy, prevention and response to gender-based violence/violence against women and girls, social norms transformation and promotion of gender equality and women empowerment from legal perspective.
- The Organization should have experience working with national and local government, local administration especially the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, the Department of Women Affairs (DWA), the Ministry of Local Government and the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary affairs.
- The organization should have past partnership with the stakeholders in public transport sector and experience to work on public places safety.
- Technical/functional competencies required
- Proven technical competencies in rule of law, advocacy, gender-based violence (GBV) and women’s empowerment.
- Demonstrated experiences in implementing programmes on law reform, GBV, gender equality and women’s empowerment.
- Proven organizational experiences in building partnerships with women led organizations, other CSOs, government agencies and other non-traditional partners and leading the coalition.
- Proven organizational experience in law reform advocacy, legal aid support and referral capacity. partnership and coordination with other CSOs, OPDs, and WROs.
- Demonstrates commitment to working with women and girls that are economically, politically, socially, culturally, or otherwise excluded, marginalized, and/or disempowered.
