The United Nations Office for Project Services is seeking proposals to support the identification and development of blue finance opportunities for investments and grants towards the sustainable management of the marine and coastal ecosystems of the East Asian Seas.
Thematic Areas
- The focus should be on marine and coastal biodiversity and ecosystems conservation. While projects can center on specific topics, integrated and multisectoral projects are valued highly across the following thematic areas:
- Blue Economy Solutions
- Conservation and Protection
- Marine Pollution, Plastic, Nutrients, Wastewater
- Climate Action related to Marine Ecosystems
- Coral Reefs
- Mangroves
- Seagrass
- Wetlands
- Marine Mammals
- Fisheries
- Tourism
- Livelihood and Community-based Businesses
- Co-management, Partnerships, Collaboration, including private sector engagement
- Participatory monitoring, citizen science, AI applications
Funding Information
- Total amount of grant/funding available: USD 300,000
- Grant/funding amount limit per applicant: USD 50,000
- Duration: 18 months
Target Beneficiaries
- These projects must engage the community on community-based projects, facilitate training and capacity building, ensure sustainability, and have direct benefits for the marine and coastal environment. They should ensure engagement with local communities and entail elements of community-based conservation, incorporate training or capacity building on science and management of coastal habitats and resources for the communities.

- Local or regional branches of government, such as municipalities
- Non-UN intergovernmental organization
- Individuals
- Applicant country of registration and nationality:
- Applicants that are included or excluded under this Call for Proposals with regard to country of registration and nationality (for individuals) are as follows: Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, or Vietnam
