The Devon Community Foundation is accepting applications for its Safer and Connected Communities Grant Scheme.
The scheme draws on funding from the OPCC Police Property Fund & OPCC Community Grants Fund and is available for projects and initiatives aiming to reduce incidences of anti-social behaviour (ASB) within the communities of Devon. The Foundation are particularly interested in receiving applications that address drug-related ASB but will welcome a range of proposals that span the spectrum from preventative work to acute response.
Please Note: The Foundation envisages that at least half of the grants is being awared will be aiming to reduce ASB related to illegal drug use and especially welcome applications that are working to address both priorities within the Commissioner’s plan.
Purpose
Safer Connected Communities grants will provide funding to reduce incidences of anti-social behaviour (ASB) within the communities of Devon.
Themes
- Connecting communities by bringing different generations within a locality together.
- Preventing and deterring crime.
- Supporting people at risk of engaging in antisocial behavior.
- Resources to make spaces feel safer and rebuild confidence in communities which encourage more positive behaviours.

Funding Information
- Safer and Connected Communities Applications between £1,000 and £5,000 that fall within the funding themes will be considered.
Eligible Activities
Examples of activity that may be funded by this grant include:
- Activities that bring different generations within a locality together to learn more about each other and what they have in common .
- Activities which support young people who have engaged in ASB or are at risk of engaging in ASB, which support them to move forward in their lives and not revert to ASB type activity.
- Resources to make spaces feel safer and rebuild confidence in communities which encourage more positive behaviours .
- Mediation and support .
- Positive and diversionary activity with those at risk of ASB in the future.
Eligibility Criteria
- For this grant scheme, DCF will consider applications from not-for-profit, voluntary or community groups, registered charities or social enterprises that are providing services or activities for the benefit of people and communities in Devon.
- Schools and Parish and Town Councils are eligible to apply but activity must not duplicate statutory provisions and must have a clear impact for the wider community. Community Interest Companies (CICs) and other social enterprises limited by guarantee are eligible to apply if they can evidence:
- There is a clear charitable purpose and defined social benefit outlined in the Articles of Association.
- There are at least three unconnected Directors.
- The Asset Lock clause in the Articles of Association clearly identifies a named organisation with objectives which are both charitable and similar to the CICs objectives as recorded in the Articles of Association.
- The project for which funding is requested must not be part of the trading services for which there would usually be a charge.
- National or regional charities are eligible to apply if they can demonstrate that:
- Local activities are informed by a committee or group made up of local people and/or representatives.
- Funds relating to Devon are ringfenced and cannot be used for other purposes.
- The Foundation will prioritise national and regional charities where there is a local branch that is managed locally and has its own bank account over other national charities with a less formal arrangement, when there is high competition for funds.
