SHI Foundation announces Research Grant Development Awards in the UK

The Foundation for the Sociology of Health and Illness (SHI Foundation) has announced a Research grant development awards to provide ‘pump-priming’ funds for the development of high-quality, innovative and multidisciplinary research grants in medical sociology / sociology of health and illness.

They are intended to support groups to work together to develop a research grant application and to submit it to a major national or international funding body within three months of the end of the award.

Funding Information

Grants can be used to cover the costs of a range of activities, up to a maximum of £6,000, as required in the development of a grant application to submission. In 2019/20, a maximum of four awards will be made.

Expected Outputs

Successful applicants are expected to produce substantive outputs in the form of a full grant application to a major national or international funding body and, where appropriate, publications in peer-reviewed journals. These outputs are expected to be completed within three months of the end of the award, unless otherwise agreed in advance.
