Skipton Building Society’s Grassroots Giving Community Funding Scheme!

2022 Newton International Fellowships in the UK

Deadline: 31 July 2017

Skipton Building Society is currently seeking applications for its Grassroots Giving community funding scheme. This year it has a total fund of £82,000 to help small groups and organisations make a difference in their neighbourhood.

Grassroots Giving 2017 will, once again, donate pots of money to smaller, community minded organisations which would normally struggle to win funding. This will help a large number of organisations across the UK make a big difference to their neighbourhoods and communities.

Grassroots Giving was launched in 2013 to celebrate the Society’s 160th anniversary and proved an immediate success. It was designed to reflect our mutual roots and established to help people and communities to help themselves.

In 2016, hundreds of community groups, clubs and organisations from across the UK applied to Grassroots Giving last year and a staggering 38,000 votes were cast online and in Skipton’s branches by the public.

What will not be funded

To summarise, applications to support the following will not be eligible for funding:

Criteria

The idea behind the Grassroots Giving campaign is to help community organisations, or groups, who only have access to limited funding from elsewhere. For this reason, registered charities will not be able to request funding via Grassroots Giving. The Skipton Building Society Charitable Foundation has already been set up as a bespoke funding stream for charities.
