Small Grants available under Whitemill Environment Fund in the United Kingdom

Fenland District Council is seeking applications for the Whitemill Environment Fund that improve the environment and enhance residents’ knowledge of an environmental issue.

The fund can be used to fund the entire cost of a project, though the awarding committee may choose to offer part funding.

The fund was established in 2013 and is managed by a committee including:

• Fenland District Council
• Elm Parish Council
• Local representatives living within the turbine catchment

Money will be added to it for 25 years (in total) by the Co-Op, which owns and runs Whitemill wind farm, in Coldham.

Over the 25-year lifetime of the project around £175k will be added to the fund (fluctuating according to RPI).

Eligibility Criteria

• Whitemill Environment Fund is a small grants fund available to groups in Coldham, Friday Bridge, Elm, Rings End and Christchurch.

Ineligibility Criteria

• The following will not be funded:
  • Bids from ‘for profit’ organisations
  • Bids from individual households
  • Fulfillment of statutory duty, running costs or maintenance
  • Projects that won’t have enough environmental or educational benefit
  • Projects where the works have been completed prior to approval.
