If yes, then apply for Spring Forward Events Grant Aid Programme, a funding opportunity designed to support and stimulate both the business and wider community through events.
They understand the importance of events in driving business growth and community development, and they want to help businesses and communities thrive by providing financial support for their events. The grant aid programme is designed to cover a range of event-related expenses, including venue rental, marketing and advertising, animation, Live Music, hire of third party services i.e. first aid, event management company etc.
Spring Forward Events Grant Aid Programme was developed to support the Business Community within the Sperrin and Derg DEA’s.

Funding Information
- There will be one round of funding for the 2022/23 financial year.
- You can apply for grant aid up to a maximum of £2,000.
- The total grant amount can make up 100% of the total event cost.
- A threshold score of 50% must be reached in order to be eligible.
- You can apply for any amount up to a maximum of £2,000 in the financial year. However, only one successful application (regardless of amount) can be held by any group in the current 2022/2023 financial year.
- The fund will cover costs such as Activities, Marketing, Live Music, hire of third party services i.e. first aid, event management company. Direct salaries will not be covered under this programme
- Your festival/event should be something that not only benefits your community but should also benefit the local business community and is aligned to the Sperrin~Derg priorities and objectives detailed above.
- You will be required to submit a Risk Assessment to Derry City and Strabane District Council prior to the festival/event taking place.
Eligibility Criteria
The grant aid programme is open to community organisations, businesses organisations, charities, social enterprises, and religious groups. They welcome applications from events of all sizes and purposes, as long as they are open to the public and benefit the business community in some way.
Assessment Criteria
The following are the Community Festival/Events key criteria which align with the Council’s strategy for improving social, economic and environmental wellbeing for all:
- Promotes social inclusion and improving community relations
- Has strong community participation
- Provides opportunities for people to improve skills or receive training
- Contributes to community regeneration
- Provides opportunities for development – this includes capacity building, links with other organisations and diversity of activities
- Attracts visitors to the area
- Actively engages with the local business community to assist them to maximise on opportunities associated with festivals/events
- Demonstrate how it will complement and contribute to the existing calendar of events
- Maximises non-public sources of income (e.g. through commercial sponsorship, donations, ticket sales, advertising revenue, etc.)
- Demonstrates value for money
