The Wellbeing South Australians (SA) has launched an open call for the Strengthening Community Wellbeing after Bushfires Grant Program.
Wellbeing SA is offering funding for projects in bushfire affected areas in South Australia that strengthen, support and protect the mental health and wellbeing of the community now and in the years to come.
The grants focus on supporting people in the Adelaide Hills, on Kangaroo Island and in Yorketown and surrounding areas, although applications to support bushfire affected communities in other parts of the state will be considered.
Funding Information
- Successful projects will be allocated up to $20,000 each (GST exclusive).
- Funding is available in the 2022-23 financial year only.
What kinds of projects can be funded?
- A wide variety of projects that help communities be prepared for the mental health and wellbeing impacts of future disasters will be considered.
- Projects must be community led and increase one or more of the following:
- the ability of local groups to lead and respond to mental health and wellbeing needs
- mental health and wellbeing awareness/literacy
- community resilience.
- Projects can focus on whole of community, or on specific groups of people that face ongoing challenges with their mental health and wellbeing following the 2019-20 bushfires. Specific groups might include first responders, children and families, young people, older people, people from a culturally or linguistically diverse background, people who experienced loss or property damage from bushfires, or others.
- Projects must support a group of people rather than an individual.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications are welcomed and encouraged from organisations or groups with strong connections to bushfire affected communities including:
- community groups
- voluntary groups
- charities
- schools
- non-government organisations
- local government.
- Any partner organisations should also be listed in the application.
- The applying (or auspice) organisation must have an active Australian Business Number (ABN).
- The applying (or auspice) organisation must be incorporated.
- The applying organisation must be based in, or be active in, South Australia.
- The applying (or auspice) organisation must have Public Liability Insurance with a minimum of $1 million per claim, or be willing to obtain this public liability insurance (the cost of which can be covered by grant funding).
Ineligible
- individuals / sole traders
- for-profit or commercial organisations
- research foundations
- trusts
- professional associations
- statutory authorities
- Commonwealth or South Australian government departments
- organisations that have licensed gaming machines in their facilities.
