Nuku Ora is currently accepting applications for Round One of the Open Fund.
The purpose of Tu Manawa Active Aotearoa is to provide quality opportunities that are accessible and create a life-long love of being active. They welcome applications from a wide range of organisations that provide play, active recreation and sport opportunities for tamariki and rangatahi, particularly for those that are less active.
These groups include:
- Children and young people in higher deprivation communities
- Girls and young women (5-24); and
- Disabled children and young people (5-18)
Funding Information
Through the first year of the fund, Nuku Ora received applications requesting in excess of $6,000,000 in total, inclusive of applications received across the Open Fund.
Through Nuku Ora’s internal review of the administration of the fund in the first year, they found that the average dollar amount requested through the Open Fund was high across all applications received through this stream, and across each of the three domains being Play, Active Recreation, and Sport.
- Play: approximately $49,000
- Active Recreation: approximately $50,000
- Sport: approximately $40,000
What can be funded?
- Venue or equipment hire
- Costs of transport to the event
- Support for volunteers or activity delivery staff
- Equipment (only where this is required as part of a project or activity)
- Officials, where these are required for the delivery of the opportunity
- Costs associated with developing and promoting your activity
Eligibility Criteria
- Hapu, Iwi, Marae, Maori organisations
- Incorporated Societies
- Charitable Trusts
- Regional or Local Council
- For-profit businesses/commercial organisations and social enterprises
- Education settings:
- Primary / Intermediate schools / Kura
- Secondary schools / Wharekura
- Tertiary Education / Whare Wananga
