The Suicide Prevention Grants Programme is a partnership between Leeds Community Foundation and Public Health, which aims to fund local community initiatives aimed at people at risk of suicide.
The fund will support social activities determined by local participants and to provide outreach work with targeted communities in order to reduce social isolation and promote protective factors for wellbeing.

Eligible Activities
- Examples of activity that can be funded
- Developing social activities determined by local participants themselves in areas with fewer activities, or providing outreach work with targeted communities in order to reduce social isolation
- Capacity building to help emerging groups develop
- Widening access to local services that reduce the risk of suicide
Eligibility Criteria
- They actively welcome more applications from, or benefitting, people under-represented in the grant making, for example LGBTQIA+, racially minoritised, Deaf or disabled people
- Previous grant recipients can apply if their end of grant report has been submitted by the time the grants are awarded (June 2025).
- Not-for-profit incorporated Community Organisations from the third sector such as CIO, CIC limited by guarantee, or charitable company can apply. You will be registered with the Charity Commission, Companies House or Mutuals Public Register (FCA).
- Charities that are registered with the Charity Commission but are not an incorporated structure can apply. These organisations cannot use grant funds towards PAYE staff costs, but funds can be used towards freelance staff costs.
- Small unincorporated and unregistered Community Organisations can only apply if your annual income is less than £10,000, and if securing the grant would not take you above this threshold for the current financial year.
- For-profit organisations, statutory organisations or activity (e.g. schools and hospitals) and overseas organisations cannot be funded.
Ineligibility Criteria
- The following can’t be funded:
- Activity and costs that have already taken place
- Activity which might be regarded as discriminatory and/or excludes some people without good justification
- Activity that promotes a particular political or religious point of view
- Activity primarily for the benefit of animals
- Capital appeals for building projects
- Grant-making to other organisations and/or individuals, or applications from individuals
