Swansea Council is making funding available to tackle food poverty and address food insecurity in Swansea.
Fund Priorities
They would welcome applications for capital/revenue funding that address issues relating to food poverty including enhancing crisis food provision and community growing projects and spaces.
For example, they would be interested in applications which address priorities such as:
Capital
- Extending existing food crisis provision.
- Food preparation and cooking equipment.
- Storage/storage solutions.
- Fridges/freezers.
- Mobile services.
- Growing spaces/growing resources.
- Enhanced access to and supply of food grown within communities.
- Website/App development e.g. Directory, network, communications etc.
Revenue
- Food.
- Staff e.g. food bank staff/coordination of food activity/collection and distribution.
- Training e.g. Health and safety/cooking and nutrition skills.
- Volunteer expenses.
Funding Information
- Small grant fund – Capital/revenue up to £2,500;
- Main grant fund – Capital/revenue over £2,500.
Who is Eligible to Apply?
- Charitable or voluntary organizations, those with charitable objectives and not-for-private-profit organizations.
Application Criteria and Assessment
All applications will be assessed against the criteria below and applicants will be required to demonstrate:
- Organisational status/charitable objectives (Q2 and Q3).
- That the funding will address one of the fund priorities or an identified food poverty need (Q4, Q5 and Q6).
- Accessibility and equal opportunities policy (Q8 and policy).
- Full financial breakdown of the funding requested (Q9).
