The Edward Malam Fund will make awards to organisations who are providing a day trip, outing or social activities for their service users. In December the fund will make set awards of £750 to organizations who will be providing meals to older people, those who are socially isolated, rough sleepers or the homeless at Christmas.
These grants will be awarded to organisationswho provide social activities for older people, or those who are suffering from social isolation. They would prefer to fund project costs and event costs, as opposed to equipment or core costs.
The Malam Fund meets the UN’s first, second and tenth SDG. These include: No Poverty, Zero Hunger & Reduced Inequalities. The fund supports projects that aim to assist older people and vulnerable adults across North Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent.
They will support organisations based in, or working for the benefit of people inthe following local authority areas;
- Stoke-on-Trent
- Staffordshire Moorlands (Biddulph, Leek and Cheadle ONLY)
- Newcastle under Lyme (Kidsgrove ONLY)
Projects should be tailored to supporting older, isolated and disadvantaged residents of these districts.
Project Aims
- Your project must meet one of the following criteria;
- Increase or enhance your current service provision
- Make your organisation more efficient, more sustainable or more resilient
- Be used to improve facilities for your service users

You can apply for a grant of up to £750.
Beneficiaries They Can Support
In order to qualify for a grant from this scheme your project must be supporting the following types of beneficiary;
- Adults, (those over 18 years of age)
- Those who are socially isolated or financially disadvantaged
Eligibility Criteria
They will support the following types of organisation;
- Constituted community groups
- Constituted voluntary groups
- Registered Charities
- Social Enterprises
This fund will not offer funding to the following organisations;
- Non-constituted community groups
- Non-constituted voluntary groups
- Organisations that have been established less than 12 months
- Statutory organisations
- Organisations that do not have a proven track record of service delivery
- Limited companies, sole traders or partnerships without charitable aims
