The Hemby Charitable Trust is seeking applications for its Grant Program to provide help for charitable projects in the fields of social need, youth and employment, help for older people, the arts, and the environment.
The objective of the Trust is particularly to provide help in The Trustees like to see some evidence of ‘Self Help’, i.e. fund-raising by the charity such as car boot sales, competitions within the community, sponsored events etc.
The Trustees may offer a grant on condition that the charity also raises a matching amount through its own efforts, i.e. not from other trusts or statutory bodies.
Funding Information
- They fund up to £5,000 but most of their award are between £500 – £3,000.
What is not funded?
- Applicants from outside Merseyside and Wirral
- Individuals
- Any form of sponsorship
- Religious bodies Places of worship – unless there is significant community use
- Political organisations Pressure groups
- Where funding from statutory bodies is, or should be available
- Schools seeking Specialist Status
- Return applicants less than 2 years after a successful application
- Any form of memorial
Grant Procedure
- There are normally 3 meetings each year when the grants are decided. These are March, July and November although these dates may vary from time to time. Applicants are advised of the result of their application within 10 working days of the meeting.
- In allocating grants the Trustees consider carefully the effect on the locality and the number of local people who will benefit. They are always anxious to ensure that the grants are used to good effect.
