The Road to COP27: Jordanian Journalists and Communicators’ Climate, Economy, and Water Program

The U.S. Embassy in Amman’s Public Affairs Section (PAS) announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to support a cohort of influential journalists and other communicators to help better inform the public about Jordan’s climate and water challenges and their implications for the economy and viability of the country.

This grant would support a group of 10 or more Jordanian journalists and other public communicators to participate in a variety of engagements, including a 2-3 week informational trip to the United States to learn about U.S. environmental journalism, various engagements with the U.S. Embassy in Jordan, a reporting trip to the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 27) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will take place from November 7-18, 2022, in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, and others.

Participants and Audiences

Proposals must describe both the primary and secondary audiences for the program, including numbers anticipated to be reached. Primary audiences are those who will participate directly in the program(s), while secondary audiences are those who will be reached by the project’s primary audiences, as a result of their participation, or through any follow-on activities build into the primary program. For example, in a teacher training program, the primary audience would be the teachers who will be trained, while the secondary audience would be their students.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible applicants: U.S. public and private academic and cultural institutions, exchange-ofpersons, and other not-for-profit organizations meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 USC 501(c)(3) may submit applications for this competition. Applicants must have nonprofit status with the IRS at the time of application.
