The Skinners’ Company has invited applications for its Charities Program. The Charities Program is a funding programs that supports NEET young people to move into employment or become employment ready.
Education is a central theme for the charity and so they particularly (but not exclusively) look to support programs of work where young people receive a vocational qualification. They look to support projects with a track record of success, or where the specific model of work is proven to be successful.
Funding information
- Grants of up to £ 10,000 per-year are available, with awards for three years open to consideration.
Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for the program is as follows:
- Projects that support NEET young people to move into employment or become employment ready
- Where successful outcomes can be evidenced
- The project is run by an registered not-for-profit organization, with at least one set of audited or independently examined annual accounts
- The charity’s annual turnover does not exceed £ 1,000,000
Additional priorities
They also have additional priorities that they wish to see as much as possible:
- Young people attain a vocational qualification
- The project offers long-term tracking of beneficiaries, to establish quality outcomes
- The project is operating in partnership with other local organizations
- Work based in England and Wales (with priority given to London and Kent, the historic areas of Company activity)
Funding is available for specific projects, rather than general organizational costs. T hey will however consider pro-rata staffing and operational costs where appropriate. Additionally, they will not award a grant that represents more than 20% of the current annual running costs of the organization.
What They Don’t Fund
In addition to what they will fund, there are a range of things that Atwell does not fund:
- Work that does not support young people into employment or to become employment ready
- Projects that have no community or charitable element
- Retrospective funding, deficits or loans
- Organizations which are not a registered not-for-profit organization
- Organizations with an annual turnover above £ 1,000,000
- Organizations with reserves of more than 12 months’ expenditure
- Organizations that do not provide direct services to clients
- Organizations which applied to them unsuccessfully within the previous 18 months
- Capital costs
- Services which are a statutory responsibility
- Projects that are purely for the advancement of religion or politics (this does not exclude faith based charities, however they may ask for a copy of your non-proselytizing policy)
- Overseas work
