The Supporting Act Foundation: Community Grant for Artist-Led Initiatives

Mondriaan Fund announces Publication Grant - Netherlands

Deadline: 26-Sep-22

The Supporting Act Foundation is offering funds through its Community grant to support artist-led initiatives that are building networks of emerging artists, particularly from marginalized backgrounds.

The Supporting Act Foundation provides 10 unrestricted project grants of €20,000 for underfunded artist-led projects, that started their activities in 2020 or 2021, oriented to build and/or support communities of artists from underrepresented and/or marginalized groups.

This grant is about tackling the social and economic challenges many artists face across Europe, creating circles of support in a way that’s genuine, sustainable, and can have widespread impact.

This first pilot grant is only available for individuals, collectives or organizations registered in or with fiscal sponsors in the Netherlands, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Spain, and Italy.

This grant program is built on the learnings and recommendations that emerged from extensive research on the challenges that emerging artists are facing in different European cities, pointing to the lack of networks and communities of equals, which have resulted in young artists mobilizing to create their own circles of mutual support. But these emerging communities have serious difficulties when it comes to funding, outreach, and a sustainable financial model. With this program, the foundation aims to enable those artists who are taking risks to support other artists.
