Applications are now open for the Way Forward for Families Partnership Fund to support collaborative work that involves children, young people and families in the design, development, delivery and improvement of projects.
Way Forward is designed and delivered in partnership with a Youth Advisory Group and a Steering Group. Together, these bring a wealth of skills and knowledge to the programme. It is funded by Corra Foundation and the Scottish Government, building on over 20 years of work through Partnership Drugs Initiative (PDI).
Aims
- Way Forward focuses on the following six aims:
- Increasing the participation of children/young people in funding processes.
- Empowering children and young people affected by drugs and alcohol.
- Focusing on Whole Family Approaches.
- Responding to the need for effective partnerships and flexible approaches to funding.
- Sustaining third-sector services and allowing them more time and financial support to explore/co-produce and test ideas.
Funding Information
- Partnerships can apply for up to £250,000 over a three-year period. This is the maximum amount possible, and grants of this level will only be made when need and strategic interagency support is clearly evidenced in the application.
Eligible Costs
- Funding can cover staff and operational costs.
Ineligible Costs
- Capital costs are not eligible, but they will consider a contribution to small items of equipment and materials required for the operation of the project.
Key Outcomes
- Key Outcomes are:
- Improving the wellbeing of children, young people (pre-birth – age 26) and their families in Scotland who are affected by alcohol and drugs.
- Developing and influencing local and national policy and practice.
What can’t be funded?
- Work that will not deliver direct support to children, young people and families affected by alcohol or drug use.
- Major capital appeals including building projects, vehicles and major refurbishment costs.
- Retrospective funding – paying for something that has already been purchased/delivered.
- Contributions to funds which will be used for grant making to other organisations.
- Funding from Corra’s Partnership Drugs Initiative (PDI) cannot be used as match funding for this funding stream, and the Way Forward funds cannot be used for any project currently funded through PDI.
- Only one application per organisation will be considered unless each application is for work in a different Local Authority area. Work that focuses on respite or whole populations will not be considered.
- Work delivered through existing/current public contracting and commissioning arrangements.
- Work delivered outwith Scotland.
Who can apply?
- The fund is open to partnerships comprised of public sector agencies/services, charities, social enterprises, community groups and other voluntary organisations. The organisation that will hold the funds must:
- Be a constituted third sector organisation (e.g. charity, community group, development trust)
- Have independent governance (i.e. at least three unrelated members of a management committee)
- Have an asset lock.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications must be from a partnership involving both the public sector and the third sector.
- The lead applicant must be a constituted third sector organisation in Scotland.
- The lead applicant must be the recipient and legally accountable for any grant received through this fund.
- Whilst the lead applicant will be legally responsible for receiving and managing the grant funding, funds may be shared among multiple local partners in order to deliver the work. This means that funds may be used to commission/purchase services from other partners involved in the work.
- All applications must ensure that the views and experiences of children, young people and families are at the core of the approach.
- Applications must be approved by a senior representative, either of the Health and Social Care Partnership, Children’s Services Planning Partnership, or Alcohol and Drugs Partnership (ADP), and a senior representative of the third sector partner, all of whom will sign a Memorandum of Understanding, Partnership Agreement, or equivalent.
