The U.S. Mission to India is pleased to announce a funding call for the Training Program for Journalists on Human Rights and Trafficking in Persons to create a cohort of 50-60 informed journalists who cover anti-trafficking issues, to emerge as a partner which brings in context, compassion, and professionalism in continuing to report and raise awareness on the issue.

The project aims to create an informed cohort of 50-60 journalists across India, through a series of virtual and in-person workshops in Kolkata to strengthen media collaboration in the global fight against human trafficking, with a visible impact on reporting patterns by media outlets, news sources, and journalists in responding appropriately to, and speaking accurately about human trafficking, over a period of 18 months.

The program will help participants understand public policy, and existing laws on human trafficking, build internal capacity including newsroom briefings, collaborate with diverse stakeholders on research, data availability and victim perspectives, contributeto improving data collection and information exchange on human trafficking, forced labor and irregular migration, and developfocused campaigns on trafficking and related issues to raise public awareness.
