The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) is seeking applications for funding for the fiscal year (FY) 2020 Victims of Child Abuse Act program to improve the capacity of child abuse professionals and promote the effective delivery of the evidence-informed Children’s Advocacy Model and the multidisciplinary response to child abuse.
The OJJDP FY 2020 Victims of Child Abuse (VOCA) Act Training and Technical Assistance for Child Abuse Professionals program will provide funding for the development and implementation of training and technical assistance for the purpose of promoting the effective delivery of the evidence-informed Children’s Advocacy Model and the multidisciplinary response to child abuse for child abuse professionals.
OJJDP has established the following objectives and deliverables:
- develop training opportunities for multidisciplinary teams of child abuse professionals at the local, state, regional, and national levels;
- provide technical assistance at the state and local levels for child abuse professionals to enhance the coordinated multidisciplinary response to child abuse and to improve the judicial system’s handling of child abuse and neglect cases; and
- develop publications and resources for child abuse professionals to enhance the coordinated multidisciplinary response to child abuse.
Award Information
- Total amount anticipated to be awarded under solicitation $2,500,000
- Period of performance start date October 1, 2020.
- Period of performance duration 36 months.
Eligibility Criteria
Pursuant to 34 U.S.C. § 20305(a), the following entities are eligible to apply:
- National organizations that—
- have a diverse portfolio of training and technical assistance resources for the diverse professionals who respond to child abuse, including a digital library to promote evidence informed practice, and
- have demonstrated experience in providing training and technical assistance for child abuse professionals, especially law enforcement officers, child protective service workers, prosecutors, forensic interviewers, medical professionals, victim advocates, and mental health professionals.
