The U.S. Embassy to Cuba Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Department of State is currently inviting applications for its Small Grants Program with an aim to support activities that promote U.S.-Cuba bilateral relations in the following three priority areas:
- Increase entrepreneurship and economic opportunities, especially among youth and undeserved communities;
- Enhance bilateral partnerships through the promotion of education, the access and use of technology, sports, and partnerships across the Americas.
- Promote cultural exchange and enhance understanding of shared history, traditions, and values through innovative means.
The U.S. Embassy in Cuba and the Department of State encourage organizations that have not previously received international program funding from the U.S. Government to apply under this announcement.
Focus Areas
Activities that are typically funded include, but are not limited to:
- Proposals to expand U.S.-Cuba exchange programs;
- Youth and community capacity-building projects with a focus on science, entrepreneurship, and information technology;
- Projects that enhance understanding through arts and culture.

- Award Ceiling: U.S. $15,000.00
- Award Floor: U.S. $1,000.00
Eligibility Criteria
- The U.S. Embassy to Cuba encourages applications from all sectors in Cuba, as well as U.S. not-for-profit organizations, and Cuban organizations.
- To be eligible for a grant award, in addition to other conditions of this request for applications, organizations must have a commitment to non-discrimination with respect to beneficiaries and adherence to equal opportunity employment practices.
- Non-discrimination includes equal treatment without regard to race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and political affiliation.
- Commercial firms are ineligible to receive funding through this award mechanism.

- Proposals must be submitted electronically to the U.S. Embassy in Havana via email.
- Applications are accepted in English only, and final grant agreements will be concluded in English.
