U.S. Embassy in Serbia: English Language Small Grants Program

Deadline: 10-May-21

The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade announces an open competition for individuals and organizations from Serbia or the U.S. to submit applications to support the objectives of the English Language Small Grants.

Program Objectives

The US Embassy recognizes that knowledge of the English language, and high quality, professional delivery of language instruction, offer opportunities to improve job prospects for Serbia’s citizens, expand access to information and knowledge, and promote critical thinking and media literacy. They want to support ideas you might have on how to use English to deal with different problems or challenges faced by your community, such as brain drain, limited job opportunities, the impact of COVID-19, or the spread of disinformation. Sometimes English becomes a bridge for increased communication and cooperation, among neighbors within the Western Balkans, between citizens of Serbia and the U.S., or between people from Serbia and EU member states.

Themes

The Embassy is seeking applications that use English language programs and activities focusing specifically on the themes below:

  1. Improving English Language Instruction
  2. Student Activities(High School or University Level)
  3. Supporting Person's with Disabilities (PWDs)
  4. Improving Job Prospects and Promoting Economic Development
  5. English for Specific Purposes (ESP)
  6. Making Progress Toward EU Accession/ Western Integration.
  7. Promoting Regional Cooperation and Stability
  8. Strengthning U.S.-Serbian Connections

Funding Information

Note: PAS and the U.S. Department of State may entertain applications for continuation grants funded under these awards beyond the initial budget period on a non-competitive basis subject to availability of funds, satisfactory progress of the program, and a determination that continued funding would be in the best interest of the U.S. Department of State.

Participants and Audiences

Based on the challenges or problems, objectives, themes, and potential activities mentioned above, PAS expects that the participants or primary audiences for your project would be instructors and school administrators (all levels: K-12 and tertiary), learners (any level of proficiency, from beginner to fluent speakers), students (high or university level), and members of specific professions related to your selected Program Theme.
