The U.S. Embassy’s Public Diplomacy Section (PDS) is pleased to announce a call for grant applications aimed at encouraging collaborative, impactful projects that further the U.S. mission to strengthen bilateral relations and promote shared values.
This funding opportunity seeks to support programs that benefit the U.S.-Mauritius bilateral relationship, align with core U.S. priorities, and foster mutual understanding through a diverse range of initiatives. All programs must incorporate an American cultural element or collaboration with U.S. experts, organizations, or institutions.
Priority Areas
Promote a free and open Indo-Pacific, encourage good governance and transparency, strengthen civil society or democratic institutions.
Youth and women’s leadership, entrepreneurship, and STEM programs.
Sustained economic growth, trade, and investment (this may include programs on entrepreneurship, capacity-building, business incubators, and opportunities to convene investors with businesses.)
Promoting civic education and youth participation in civics, democratic processes, volunteerism, and community service.
Build media capacity and counter foreign efforts at propagating misinformation.
English language promotion that uses innovative techniques, tools, and U.S. materials for classroom teaching and learning
Promoting the themes above through sports or arts.
Funding Information
Total available funding: $50,000 pending availability of funds
Award amounts: Awards may range from a minimum of $5,000 to a maximum of $25,000 (approximately)
Length of performance period: 9 to 18 months
Eligible Programs
Examples of potential small grants programs include, but are not limited to:
Academic and professional lectures, seminars, workshops, and speaker programs;
Programs developed by an alumnus/an of a U.S.-government sponsored educational institution;
Youth entrepreneurship, empowerment, and/or leadership programs;
Programs that support media and freedom of expression.
Eligibility Criteria
The following U.S. and foreign organizations are eligible to apply:
Not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations
Public and private educational institutions
Individuals
Public International Organizations and Governmental Institutions
Ineligibility Criteria
For-profit businesses or commercial entities are not eligible to apply.
