The Southend on Sea City Council is accepting applications for UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025. The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.
In the future, they are responsible for:
- Sending out the call for applications
- Assessing applications
- Paying grants to successful applicants
- Managing and monitoring successful projects.
Funding Information

They are looking for project bids between £15,000 and £60,000.
- In year 1, 90% of available funding through the UKSPF is revenue funding, while in year 2 this is 87%. Therefore, bids should apply for predominantly, or exclusively, revenue funding.
- The government has decided that ‘people and skills’ projects will only be able to apply in 2024/2025. Anyone looking to fund people and skills projects should look to apply during the next open call (autumn 2023).
What type of projects are they looking for?

All projects must align with the UKSPF prospectus. Projects must also fall under at least one of their local priorities which are:
- Communities and place: impactful volunteering and/or social action projects
- Supporting local business: strengthening local entrepreneurial ecosystems.
