The UN Women Afghanistan Country Office (ACO) is seeking applications for its program entitled “Operating Women Protection Centres in Afghanistan”.
The UN Women Afghanistan Country Office (ACO) has been assisting the government of Afghanistan and its partners in the area of Elimination of Violence Against Women (EVAW). UN Women is further expanding its EVAW Program in view of building capacities and providing more coherent and specialized support in the work pertaining to EVAW carried out by both government and civil society organizations. The Fund addresses the inadequate mechanism to financially support and mobilize community-based and non-governmental organizations that are working on EVAW and expand EVAW initiatives throughout Afghanistan in a coordinated, strategic and sustainable manner.
The role of the UN Women EVAW Programme in Afghanistan is to support national counterparts – including the Ministry of Women’s Affairs (MoWA), key line ministries, Parliamentary bodies, and civil society – to support implementation of the National Action Plan for the Women of Afghanistan (NAPWA) and National Action Plan 1325, including support to prevention and responses to violence against women, legal protection, rule of law and women’s human rights.
Scope
The Implementing partners are expected to operate the Women Protection Centres in the abovementioned provinces and provide services to the VAW survivors according to the WPC regulation, including provides:
- Accommodation: an appropriate living environment for the clients and possibly for the children who may accompany the client.
- Necessities of life: Provision of appropriate food and drink, cleaning and hygiene supplies, dignity kit including feminine products, heating and other necessities.
- Literacy and numeracy classes: All clients or beneficiaries will be provided literacy/numeracy classes of different levels, and as appropriate, enrolled into schools.
Eligibility Criteria
Interested applicants should meet the following criteria. Proposals which do NOT meet the criteria stated below will NOT be considered.
UN Women will not consider proposals from:
- Organization that is not registered and does not has legal status in Afghanistan
- Individuals without any organizational affiliation;
- UN agencies and affiliated UN agencies;
- Organizations that do not have an office in Afghanistan;
- Government entities.
