UNDP Call for Local Governments: Regional Program for Local Democracy in the Western Balkans

Democracy Commission Small Grants Program in Macedonia

Applications are open for “The Western Balkans Local Democracy Program (Reload)” which is implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in six countries of the region: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo and Serbia.

The project started with implementation on 1 February 2017 and during the next three years the goal of the project is to strengthen partnership between local self-government units (JLS) and civil society in the Western Balkans region through the development and dissemination of a transparent approach to the financing of CSOs from the budget JLS, in order to address community needs.

The project is complementary to the results and good practices of multi-year project interventions in BiH, Strengthening Local Democracy – LOD project, which is also a model that will be offered for use in other countries of the region.

The total value of the Reload project is € 10 million, and is funded by the European Union (EU) from the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance, The Civil Society Support Program amounts to 8.5 million Euros, while the rest will be co-financed by UNDP offices operating in the Western Balkans and Partner JLS.
