The United Nations Development Programme is seeking proposals for the selection of civil society organizations (CSOs) to facilitate the implementation of regional cross-border peacebuilding initiatives in line with the priorities defined in the Territorial Action Plans (TAPs) and aligned with the Regional Strategy for Stabilization, Recovery and Resilience.
Objectives
- This call for proposals aims to support peacebuilding initiatives led by civil society organizations (CSOs) that align with the priorities defined in the Territorial Action Plans (TAPs). The project brings together the expertise of these CSOs to collaborate on joint projects while strengthening their capacity to design and implement regional cross-border activities adapted to the local context and needs. In addition, the project will provide micro grants to selected local civil society organizations to implement cross-border projects. Specifically, this call for proposals will be carried out by involving local CSOs/CBOs from the four beneficiary countries to implement regional cross-border peacebuilding activities. CSOs registered in the DIMS will submit joint CSO proposals, including proposals for interventions in at least 2 of the 8 TAPs in different countries.
- The intervention under this call will focus on project outcome 2 – Strengthening regional and cross-border collaboration and engagement among CSOs across the 8 territories of the Lake Chad Basin region, which includes two production areas.
- Regional and cross-border peacebuilding projects led by civil society organizations (CSOs) are being developed and funded.
- The Regional CSO Platform is strengthened to play its role as a regional convener of CSOs and to improve the facilitation of peer learning of CSOs.
Funding Information
- Proposal amounts for each programmatic intervention by a single or joint CSO group are capped at USD 50,000 disbursed in its local currency equivalent, subject to a maximum of five CSO group proposals for direct interventions in cross-border communities.
- The amount requested in the proposal must be proportional to the administrative and financial management capacities of the organization. The implementation of the activities should begin on October 15, 2024 and end on August 30, 2025. In principle, the duration of the project will not exceed 12 months
Eligibility Criteria
- Interested CSOs/OCs must meet the following criteria to be eligible for selection.
- Be legally registered as a CBO/OSC with the relevant authorities of the country with a valid registration certificate.
- CSOs must be registered in the CBLT DIMS directory.
- The proposed intervention touches on at least one of the 4 pillars of RSS mentioned above and affirms alignment with TAPs.
- This is an intervention that works within the framework of the triple nexus.
- CSOs must operate in one of the 8 TAPs (CBLT) proposed for cross-border/regional projects.
- Preference will be given to applications that include youth– and women-led CSOs.
- Preference will be given to CSO groups working through sub-grants to local/community CSOs to provide support to local peacebuilding organizations.
- Preference will also be given to CSOs proposing interventions in UNDP JAP offices to ensure alignment and sustainability of stabilization efforts already underway by UNDP.
Application Process
- CSO/CSO groups that meet the above minimum requirements (1-8) will be required to submit the following documents for the application to be considered:
- Application template information
- Technical and financial proposal describing how a group of CSOs will undertake this mission.
- Profiles of all CSOs in the group and a joint technical team (including all CVs) that will lead the design and implementation of a proposal.
- CAC Registration Certificate (for all CSO Group CSOs)
- Financial statements for the last two years and footnotes accompanying the financial statements (for all CSOs in the CSO group)
- Names and designation of board members (for all CSOs in the CSO group)
- Letters of recommendation from previous clients (if collaboration was explored)
