The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking applications from eligible entities for its “USAID Reconciliation Activity” to create and support a civic movement that will foster reconciliation and help ensure lasting peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
The activity is based on the hypothesis that if a cadre of BiH citizens and key influencers are empowered to stand up for peace, demand political responsibility, and advocate for institutional change, then BiH society as a whole will enjoy increased stability and economic prosperity.
Funding Information
- USAID intends to provide $5,000,000 in total USAID funding over a five year period.
- The ceiling for this program is $5,000,000.
Results
- Increased engagement and leadership of key influencers in reconciliation
- Students educated on ethnic and religious differences and engaged in activities that promote acceptance and reconciliation
- Develop and support regional initiatives on inter-ethnic dialogue, facing the past, reconciliation, and inclusiveness
- Maximize the role of the media in fostering inter-ethnic reconciliation, and promoting respect and empathy
- Increased citizen participation in dialogue and consensus-building on reconciliation
Eligibility Criteria
- U.S. and Non-U.S. Non-Profit Organizations
- U.S. and Non-U.S. For-Profit Organizations
- U.S. and Non-U.S. Colleges and Universities
- Public International Organizations (PIOs)
- USAID defines a local organization as one that:
- Is organized under the laws of the recipient country.
- Has its principal place of business in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
- Is majority-owned by individuals who are citizens or lawful permanent residents of the recipient country or is managed by the governing body, the majority of whose members are citizens or lawful permanent residents of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
- Is not controlled by a foreign entity or by an individual or individuals who are not citizens or permanent residents of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
- USAID will not accept applications from individuals.
