The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking applications for a Cooperative Agreement from qualified entities to improve the health of children and adolescents at risk to and/or significantly impacted by Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) in Mozambique in support of USAID/Mozambique’s Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS) 2020-2025.
The overall goal of the activity is to “improve the health of children and adolescents highly vulnerable to and/or significantly impacted by Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) in Mozambique.” The focus of the program will be on identifying and supporting children highly vulnerable to HIV acquisition, children and adolescents living with HIV (C/ALHIV), and children impacted by HIV-related morbidity or mortality among one or more primary caregivers.
Funding Information
Subject to funding availability and at the discretion of the Agency, USAID intends to provide approximately $48,000,000.00 (forty-eight million dollars) in total USAID funding over a five (5) year period.
Geographic Scope
The selected Applicant(s) for the Activity will work in nine provinces of Mozambique (Cabo Delgado, Gaza, Inhambane, Maputo City, Maputo Province, Nampula, Niassa, Sofala, and Tete). Applicants may propose to work in all nine provinces or select provinces only; if the latter, multiple Applicants may be chosen in order to ensure coverage for all nine provinces. Specific target districts will be defined on a yearly basis during the development of annualwork plans and in consultation with USAID and GRM. USAID will provide the Applicant with clear guidance regarding the detailed geographic prioritization expected during the first year of the activity once the COP22 planning process has been finalized; likely by May 1, 2022.
Eligibility Criteria
For the purpose of this section, local entity means an individual, a corporation, a nonprofit organization, or another body of persons that:
- is legally organized under the laws of Mozambique;
- has as its principal place of business or operations in Mozambique;
- is majority owned by individuals who are citizens or lawful permanent residents of; and
- managed by a governing body, the majority of who are citizens or lawful permanent residents of a country receiving assistance from funds appropriated under title III of this Act.
