The Waco Foundation is pleased to announce the Immediate Impact Grants Program to provide operating or capital support to a wide range of area nonprofits.
Areas
The Foundation offers support in primary areas:
- To civic-grassroots groups and nonprofits working to provide support to traditionally marginalized or under-invested communities (in keeping with recognized CDBG recipient areas) through efforts that help enhance the attractiveness and vitality of targeted neighborhoods, and foster community engagement and development among those population groups.
- To nonprofits that provide support and service to the most vulnerable residents, including people in poverty, people with disabilities, the elderly, children, and youth.
Potential Projects
Grant dollars to support vulnerable populations can be used for efforts such as:
- The delivery of out of school activities for children and youth;
- The delivery of general human services assistance;
- Workforce readiness preparation and job placement;
- Life skills training and/or parental education;
- Services to isolated elderly populations or people with disabilities.
In addition to supporting work in the aforementioned categories, grant dollars to support grassroots neighborhood development efforts can be used to:
- Help promote grassroots leadership, deepen neighborhood connections, build relationships and facilitate the effective organization of residents.
- Support local dialogue as well as the planning and implementation of efforts geared at promoting economic and business development by local neighborhood and near community neighborhood residents. The goal of which would be to enhance the ability of residents in targeted neighborhoods to help determine the economic make up/composition of their community.
- Help provide local solutions to the health, education, financial security or other needs demonstrated in select neighborhoods.
- Help connect and align neighborhood efforts to larger, community wide enhancement or improvement efforts taking place in the Waco area (e.g., Prosper Waco, other collaborative networks).
- Enhance the culture, aesthetic nature and/or vibrancy of a neighborhood by supporting improvements to and the use of public space. By aesthetic, they mean activities, projects and actions that are intended to help enhance the visual identity and attractiveness of a neighborhood. Potential projects might include the placement of banners, lighting and/or signage.

Eligibility Criteria
The community foundation for McLennan County, Waco Foundation awards grants to 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, nonprofit organizations that are physically located in and provide service to McLennan County, Texas.
