The Waco Foundation is pleased to announce the 2022 Immediate Impact Grant to provide program, operating or capital support to a wide range of area nonprofits.
Objectives
The program, which provides grants to eligible organizations, is intended to:
- Support the needs of vulnerable residents (e.g., people in poverty, people with disabilities, elderly individuals with limited financial means/access to resources, children and youth)
- Support grassroots efforts that facilitate development of and development in Waco neighborhoods that have been traditionally underserved or underinvested in financially. Work will be eligible for consideration if it falls into one or more of the following zip codes: 76704, 76706 and 76707.
- To nonprofits that work to help foster an inclusive, attractive, supportive community for residents and visitors alike.
Areas
The Foundation offers support in three primary areas:
- To civic-grassroots groups and nonprofits working to provide support to traditionally marginalized or under-invested communities (in keeping with recognized CDBG recipient areas) through efforts that help enhance the attractiveness and vitality of targeted neighborhoods, and foster community engagement and development among those population groups.
- To nonprofits that provide support and service to the most vulnerable residents, including people in poverty, people with disabilities, the elderly, children, and youth.
Potential Projects
Grant dollars to support vulnerable populations can be used for efforts such as:
- The delivery of out of school activities for children and youth;
- The delivery of general human services assistance;
- Workforce readiness preparation and job placement;
- Life skills training and/or parental education;
- Services to isolated elderly populations or people with disabilities.

Maximum award amount: $5,000
Eligibility Criteria
- Requests should originate from organizations (or community/neighborhood associations) that are physically located in, and provide services to McLennan County, Texas residents to be eligible for consideration.
- Grant funds cannot be used for religious activities. It is important to note that in order to access grant funds, Waco Foundation awards grants on a reimbursement basis which means grantees will need to incur expenses and then provide documentation of this fact.
- The Foundation does recognize that, due to cuts in public funding and the stipulations tied to many government dollars, some public institutions often lack some of the support they need to deliver creative and high impact programs/services to youth and their families. As such, they are willing to consider supporting projects in one or more of the following categories to eligible taxing entities (i.e. school districts, community & technical colleges, CPS & Juvenile Justice programs).
- Eligible organizations may apply for:
- Collective Impact Related Initiatives: Grants may be used to help institutions successfully develop and deliver programs, services or similar resources to students and families addressing health, education or financial security related challenges. Funds may be used to cover the cost of resources, incentives, meeting logistics, facilitation, etc. Applicants should note that they place a high value on the use of research informed practices and methodologies.
- Case Worker Related Activities: Grants may be used to help meet the critical needs of children/youth in poverty (including emancipated and homeless students). The funds may be used to cover items needed for Parent Resource Centers, general student supplies and, in special cases, the personal expenses of students. All needs must be sufficiently documented by the case worker and the institution.
- AVID (Advance Via Individual Determination) Program, short out of school programs and excursions (Intramural sports and athletic events are not eligible for support): With sufficient documentation as to potential impact, grants may be used to cover the cost of short, regional excursions that seek to:
- Provide new experiences to children/youth in poverty that have had little exposure to situations beyond their neighborhood/city/county; or
- deliver experiences that encourage children and youth in poverty to consider a wide variety of educational and/or employment opportunities upon the completion of high school.
