The Wilson Home Trust (WHT) is pleased to announce an open call for the Group Grant program.
The Group Grant is for not-for-profit organisations or groups of children or youth who meet their criteria and seek to provide an enriching experience.
Purpose
- The overall purpose of The Wilson Home Trust (WHT) is to provide care and rehabilitation to “Children with Physical Disabilities” living in the “Qualifying Area” (being “eligible children”) and to provide respite and assistance to their “Families” and to work within the community living in the Qualifying Area to further such objectives.
Aims
The Wilson Home Trust invites applications from Groups/Organisations that are applying for a grant that will:
- improve the lives of children and young people with physical disabilities
- provide physically disabled children/young people with enriching experiences
- enhance the wellbeing of children/young people with a physical disability, and their whanau
Priorities
Grants for $5,000 or more must also meet one of the following annual priorities.
- Provision of activities for beneficiary groups for a period of six months or longer such as:
- Hydrotherapy
- Music therapy
- Riding for the Disabled
- Dance Therapy
- School holiday programmes
- Youth fitness programmes
- Support for purchase of equipment/capital items to assist with the delivery of activities for beneficiaries such as:
- Hoists and water wheelchairs for swimming pools
- Specialised equipment for playgrounds
Funding Information
- Grant funding of up to $20,000 is available.
- For group grants up to $5,000 please complete the online application.
- For group grant applicants for funding between $5,000 and $20,000 this is by invitation and groups may be required to make a presentation to the Wilson Home Trust.
What can be applied for?
- Capital items i.e equipment like Trikes
- Repairs / upgrading of fixed capital items such as a hoist into a swimming pool
- New capital items building an accessible playground
- Transport costs to activities / events
- Cost of running conference / training / educational seminars
- Educational / recreational camps
- Partial funding towards an activity or item that other funders are also contributing to
What cannot be funded?
- Wages and salaries
- Business as usual operational expenses
- Loan and hire purchase repayments
- Groups standing for election to public office
- Lobby groups or action/pressure groups
- Funds for personal or commercial gain
- Professional sports groups
Eligibility Criteria
All group grants must meet the following criteria:
- The group must be a registered charity or Incorporated society
- The group must be able to provide annual audited accounts and have been operating for at least two years.
- Group number must be a minimum of eight, with no maximum. At least 50% of the group members must have a physical disability.
- Age: Children / Young People are under the age of 22
- Children / Young people must have a primary physical disability:
- Physical disabilities are those which primarily impair function of body and/or limbs. Additional sensory (vision, hearing,) and intellectual (cognitive, behavioural, mental,) disabilities may be present, but will not be the primary reason for the funds requested.
- The child or young person’s disability needs to be described in terms of the impairments, activity limitations and/or participation restrictions
- Groups / organisations are required to supply a list of the children / young people that will benefit from the grant and include their diagnosis / physical disability information.
