The South Downs National Park Trust is accepting applications for its Youth Action Fund.
Funding has previously supported youth groups to carry out litter picking by bike, take part in outdoor activities promoting the beauty and benefits of the National Park as well as creating and editing videos inspiring others to access the South Downs.
The Youth Action Fund will allocate grants between £100 and £2,000 to organisations that want to carry out projects which will empower and support young people between the ages of 12 and 25 to engage with the National Park through activities which support the National Park’s Partnership Management Plan. Projects might involve conservation work, training for young people or creative activities themed on the South Downs.
Criteria
- Any activity should allow young people between 12 and 25 years of age to take action in support of the National Park, for example:
- Conservation activities:
- Create habitats for wildlife in your local centre/site
- Clean-up and dispose activities e.g. litter picking, plastic clean-up, beach cleans
- Taking part in practical conservation activities e.g. tree planting initiatives, scrub clearance with conservation organisations
- Training for young people
- Environmental, National Park promoting film making/photography training
- Learning traditional skills at locations such as Butser Ancient Farm, Weald and Downland Museum, Sustainability Centre and more
- Creative activities inspired or themed around the National Park
- Writing workshops
- Arts based activities e.g. painting, drawing, sculpture about the South Downs
- Creating a mural on your centre wall to tell the local community about making a difference for nature
