Deadline: 11-Sep-22
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport (DCMS) intends to provide a grant to a voluntary, community or social enterprise (VCSE) or youth sector organization, or a joint delivery body led by such an organization, to deliver a £500,000 Youth Worker Bursary Fund.
The purpose of the Youth Worker Bursary Fund is to support a sufficiently qualified youth sector workforce, which will support young people to develop skills for life and work, and improve their mental and physical wellbeing.
Objectives
The Youth Worker Bursary Fund aims to support the development of the youth sector workforce. The fund has 3 key objectives:
- Enable individuals from low socio-economic background or underrepresented groups in the youth sector workforce, to access and complete either a level 2 or 3 youth worker qualification
- Improve the youth sector workforce infrastructure, supporting individuals to become qualified in either a Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement or a Level 4 Award in The Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice.
- Pilot a Leadership and Management Programme, prioritising those from groups underrepresented in youth sector leadership which will allow experienced youth workers the opportunity to access accredited management development modules, including Leadership and Management, Managing Staff, Managing Performance, Managing Budgets, Outcome Based Practice and Supervision in the Youth Work Context.
Funding Information
- They will consider applications for £500,000.
- The fund is broken down into:
- £380,000 for Level 2 and Level 3 Youth Worker Qualifications
- £36,000 for Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement and Level 4 Award in The Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice qualifications.
- £54,000 for a Pilot Leadership and Management Programme
- £30,000 (up to 5% of the fund) can be used for administration costs
Eligibility Criteria
- The bursary funding should be provided to individuals who would otherwise experience financial difficulties in accessing Youth Worker qualifications (e.g. bursaries should not be provided to individuals whose workplace would ordinarily pay for their Youth Worker qualifications), and in particular support those from low socio-economic backgrounds or underrepresented groups in the youth sector workforce.
