Millions of Euros in Funding Opportunities for Sub-Saharan Africa to fight against Poverty-related Diseases & COVID-19

UNDRR Call for Proposals: DRR Capacity Building in Ethiopia

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic has become the most defining global humanitarian challenge of all time. It has had a devastating impact on Africa, and its effects will deepen as the rate of infection rises.

Although recently, several international organisations have raised funding to stem the impacts of COVID-19 in the country, still more significant support is needed to fulfill the large financing gaps.

In a bid to support Africa, The European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) has come up with Five Grant Opportunities for NGOs and individuals to address this pandemic.

The five funding opportunities relatively focuses on-

  1. Capacity Development for Disease Outbreak and Epidemic Response in sub-Saharan Africa
  2. Innovative approaches to enhance Poverty-related Diseases Research in Sub-Saharan Africa
  3. Strategic Actions to Maximise the Impact of Research on Reducing Disease Burden
  4. Ethics and Regulatory Capacities
  5. Career Development Fellowships in Poverty-Related Diseases and Child and Adolescent Health

EDCTP is a public-public partnership between countries in Europe and sub-Saharan Africa, and the European Union committed to working with EDCTP-funded beneficiaries and other stakeholders to help to minimize the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on EDCTP projects.

Call for Proposals for Innovative approaches to enhance Poverty-related Diseases Research in Sub-saharan Africa (EUR 23.4 million)
The European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) has announced a call for proposals for Innovative approaches to enhance poverty-related diseases research in Sub-saharan Africa. EDCTP announces CFPs for Ethics and Regulatory Capacities (EUR 2.5 million Grant Opportunity)
The European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) is seeking proposals for the Ethics and Regulatory Capacities.
