Applicants are invited to apply for the fourth edition of its African Fact-Checking Awards 2017, honoring the best non-partisan fact-checking journalism conducted by journalists and journalism students on the continent.
The prizes will be organized in partnership with the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN), at their conference in Johannesburg, South Africa, in November 2017.
Prize Information
- $ 2,000 for each (anglophone and francophone) winner of the best reportage report by a journalist
- $ 1000 for the 2 e and 3rd in English and French media
- $ 500 for each (anglophone and francophone) winner of the best reportage by a student in journalism
Eligibility Criteria
- An African media or student of journalism in a journalism school on the continent, can submit feature published or broadcast between September 1, 2016, and August 31, 2017.
- This article should verify an important statement made in Public debate or in the media.
- Awards for active journalists
- Best (article) reportage verification of facts by a journalist in the English-speaking media
- Best (article) report of fact check by a journalist in the francophone media
- Awards for Journalism Students
- The best article (report) of fact checking by a student reporter published in a campus media or on an English-speaking blog
- The best article (report) of verification of the facts by a student journalist published in a media of campus or on a blog francophone
